Grand Opening Great Success

The Mayor of Holdfast Bay,  Stephen Patterson officially opened the Community Garden  and stayed to wander around and have look at what we have achieved.
Matt Williams, Federal Member for Hindmarsh as well as so many of the Councillors from the City of Holdfast Bay came along and our appreciation goes to them for attending and helping make the day a success.

It was a fantastic day and even though we were preparing for rain it stayed away and blessed us with a beautiful sunny day.  The day was very successful with many different stallholders including bric a brac, coffee truck, woodwork, steelwork, plants and seedlings, middle eastern silks, “Upcycling”, BBQ, cake stall, jams and chutneys stall etc.

The workshops on composting, worm farming and Bokashi systems were well attended with lots of interest shown.

Thanks to Mary Raymond, Bernie and Michal Dwyer for donating their time and expertise to run these workshops..

Even Neville Scrooge , our Treasurer was happy. The Sausage Sizzle made about $800, the plants and seedlings about $750 and the Bric-a-brac white elephant recycle extravaganza made $450 or so. $2,000 for the day, very nice.
With thanks to All of us from All of us for an excellent effort. Particularly Pat who filled in as Secretary and President when Chris and Pam absconded to Japan.

What bug is that?

Much conjecture about these creatures on the Sweet potato.

Via my bug book What Garden Pest or Disease is that, J McMaugh, I think they are these
