Community Centre Glenelg North – Open Day. 22/7 12-3:00
On the last day of School Holidays. Your Local Community Centre has an Open Day event at the Glenelg North Community Centre, This Friday 22nd July.
The Jungle Body Adelaide will be doing a KONGA® demonstration later in the afternoon along with other local performances, stall holders and activities on the day. There will be free children’s craft and gardening activities, a BBQ by the Vets’ Shed and the Lavalicious Coffee Van.
Bunnings BBQ 4th Aug
Reminder about the upcoming BBQ at Bunnings Marion, Thursday 4th August. Yep , a Thursday once again. Neville has his sterling Flash Mob “regulars”– but would like to hear from others. (You won’t get sunburnt). Take your pick, first shift, 07:20-10:30am second shift, 10:30-01:30 and the last shift 01:3pm-04:47. Email him now on email@example.com for a bit of productive fun. These BBQs are REALLY good for Glenelg North Community Garden, they give us the flexibility to do the projects we want (like fix the *;/x?x*! pump which is now problematic and the projects on the Activity Day below).
Activity Day – Saturday 6th August
Lots to do. Would everyone arrive 09:00, bright eyed and bushy tailed. 12:00 is time for the last soup task.
– Brick path laying.
Clear the area. Measure and define path with string. Dig / smooth the area, lay a dolomite base, role smooth and firm, lay bricks including the odd mosaic
– Extend pipes to all plots
Under Bernie’s technical direction, connect pipes, bury pipes, test.
Under Pam’s horticultural direction, plant seeds, plant cuttings, put them where they will be happy.
– Tidy the shed
Under Pat’s superb orderly mind, tidy up the shed, find anything to add to the throw out pile, label things.
– Soup, bread and cheese eating
Under Pam’s amazing culinary direction, light the stove provided by either MDD or ND, Heat, serve and eat. Everyone needed for this task.
Grafting Workshop – Thurs 11th Aug
There is a cost of $10 per members for this workshop. We have a few Community Garden trees we want grafted. The session will include successful techniques. Thanks Sally.
Memberships due Now – $10
Hugely important because there is an AGM coming up on Sat 10th Sept. Only paid up members can vote and we if we don’t get an AGM quorum, Chris will be frustrated and gloomy.
Please see Neville or better still, transfer to
BSB: 085 221 and
Your name: ?????
BTW Nominations forms for committee membership are on the way. Get in early and beat the rush!
Please return your Lottery Tickets by end of August.
We still have some books to get rid of. Contact Chris and Pam at the garden. If you have already sold your tickets, please return to Chris. And if you need access to the luck equations, also talk to Chris, he won $6,000 of electrical entertainment last year! Thanks.
Open day – Oct?
We are thinking about an Open Day in October hence we will be planting the summer seedlings. See Activity Day above.
